Model Takeover | Meet Savannah

We've been SO blessed here at Harper & Sky to meet and work with some incredible local models over the past few years! We're always sad when some of them move away, but we couldn't be more proud of the amazing women that we've come to know and become friends with! Luckily for us {and selfishly, too!} , Savannah is someone whose family is native to the QC Area, so we get to keep working with her whenever she is back home!

This lady is as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside! She's also a great sport! She's the first of our team to tackle our survey questions and sit in the hot seat! If you want to get to know more about this beautiful soul.. keep on reading!!!

What’s your passion in life?

I LOVE TO TRAVELand to become fully immersed within another culture in order to learn new things. But, I would have to say helping others has always been a hugeaspect of my life too. At a very young age, my parents taught my siblings and I the importance of giving back. Throughout my life I have volunteered for over 100 different organizations and continue to advocate for mental health on a daily basis.

Who is your biggest inspiration and why?

Ugh! This is such a tricky question, because I have so manyrole models in my life whom I greatly look up to. I would be nowhere without my parents and their constant support and inspiration. However, my late grandmother was also an incredible woman.

Dorothy (aka Nena) showed me what hard work looks like with her ability to do yard work and own her own business until age 90. She showed me what compassion looks like by always giving her time, money, and hands to those who needed it the most. She taught me what being fearless meant by traveling the world with her closest friends and living a spontaneous life, both before/after my grandfather passed…& by raising 5 kids. She showed me what dreaming big means and the importance of always setting small/big goals. She also exemplified what support looks like by always coming to my sporting events, school plays, sending me homemade cookies to college, & watching me compete in pageantry. I still don’t know how she did it all, but I inspire to be half of the woman she was.

Favorite movie or TV show?

I am laughing just writing this… but, “90 Day Fiance” is my absolute favorite TV show! Every Sunday night I look forward to watching it with popcorn… and sometimes a glass of red wine… or two ;)

Current obsession?

The movie and soundtrack of, “A Star is Born”. Despite crying like a baby and walking out of the theater looking like a raccoon, Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper were unbelievable in that film.

Favorite snack?

Sweet potato fries with BBQ sauce is my favorite salty snack and my favorite sweet snack (right now anyways) is peanut butter filled M&Ms, but I am sure that will change in a week!

What one piece of advice would you give your younger self?

I have always been a very futuristic thinker and although it has kept me very goal-oriented and morally grounded, I would have told myself to enjoy each moment a little more. To just slow down and relax a little. Luckily, I am only 22 and hopefully have many years left to enjoy!

What’s your unique talent?

I can twirl multiple fire batons at once!

Favorite fashion trend past or present?

I love denim dresses with pockets, flannels, and anything black. Also, loving cropped knit sweaters right now!

One item on your bucket list

Go cage diving with Sharks…. I’m a bit of an adrenaline junkie!

Favorite guilty-pleasure song:

“Natural,” by Imagine Dragons, is on repeat in my car and at the gym.

 More about Savannah

Harper & Sky Meet our team

Savannah Necker graduated a year early with a degree in Digital Media Production and Performance with a minor in Communications from the University of Northern Iowa. Throughout her college experience, she was highly involved on campus as the Feature Twirler for the Panther Marching Band, while maintaining a 4.0 GPA as a member of Phi ETA Sigma Honors Society and the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. She was ranked within the top of her class and was awarded Summa Cum Laude. She also hosted numerous events within the Miss Iowa Organization, the 2017 UNI Dance Marathon Live-Stream event, and the TV show @UNI, which aired on Cedar Falls cable. This past year, she also played an instrumental role in producing ESPN3 games for the UNI Panthers and was an intern for Channel 4-WHBF in Rock Island.

Savannah was a past Miss America Organization titleholder, where she was named Miss Iowa’s Outstanding Teen in 2012. That year she was able to travel all across the state of Iowa and nationally, performing her talent of baton twirling while advocating for various important topics, such as Anti-Bullying and Distracted Driving. She was also competitive within the Miss USA organization, placing 1RU to Miss Iowa USA for three years. The sport of baton twirling has taken her all over the globe, performing in the Walt Disney World Parade, the 2017 Rome New Years Day Parade, Nationals, and has earned her a gold medal at the AAU Jr Olympics. In 2015, she was named Champion of the Quad Cities Dancing with the Stars competition for her high energy jive. That year also kicked off her modeling career, where she just recently walked in New York Fashion Week this past February for designers Mac & Ieena Duggal.

Her main goal this year is to become a yoga instructor while continuing to model nationally. She also looks forward to doing a little bit of traveling and spending more time with her family in the QC area. Her favorite quote is, “You have not lived your life fully until you have done something for someone who can never repay you.” She hopes with her future career that she will be able to be a voice for those who are often times silenced, while also continuing to advocate for issues that are close to her heart, such as her platform on mental illness “End the Stigma: We All Have Stuff.”
